Analog Recording

After many years of friends expressing how recording on their computer is not quite good enough and wondering how an artist is supposed to afford the costs of high-end studios, I have decided to open my home to the music community and offer an affordable, analog-based recording studio with day rates, plus tape costs, in Florence, Ma. (with sleeping accommodations).

The beauty of analog recording is not only the warm, full sound-but the critical juxtaposition of captured performances and thoughtfully layered sounds tracked whithin a limited realm.
Today, most studios offer digital recording promising the infinite possibilities of infinite tracks, which is great, except when there is no longer a critical/sculptural process in creating sound recordings - negative space is just as important as positive space in music.
I record primarily on a Tascam 38 1/2" 8 track reel to reel, with exception to ADAT which is also an 8 track recording format. The tracking restrictions coupled with analog live mixing creates a workmanship setting that thrives on the performance which is great for all types of projects, whether it is recorded and mixed in house or mixed elsewhere.
